I have been considering this procedure to reduce puffiness in the under eye area. I have consulted two doctors, both with different approaches. The first described a procedure that involved an incision on the inside of the lower lid, then removal of fat- no stitches. The second doctor; incision below lashes on exterior of lower lid, removal of fat and excess skin ending with stitches. Why the different approach by two well known and highly recommended doctors? Neither mentioned my age(30) as a determining factor. Do I need to have skin removed? Is the first approach safer? Does removal of skin and stitching have an effect on recovery time? I liked both doctors and do not know which approach would be best for me- Please help, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Both procedures are used widely today but the results are different. My advice? See a third doc and go with the questions from my book, "Cosmetic Surgery: Before, Between and After"
Your age is really not a criteria. At 30 you are old enough to make a goodd decision and young enough for great results.
Keep me posted!
My best,
Susan Gail
