I am a 33yr dark-skinned black woman (type V/VI) in good health, with 2 kilos overweight I am considering liposculpture/suction to get rid of pockets of fat on outer/inner thighs and knees that I cannot get rid of with diet and excercise. Does this surgery present other risks to black people? What about keloid scarring and hyperpigmentation marks. What is the length (maximum amount of time needed to recover? Does fat return after ie. pregnancy or weight gain? Where should I go for such surgery in London, England.
My research has shown me that if you are overweight and wanting liposuction, the best and longest lasting results occur when you loose all the weight you want first, then go for the pockets of resistant fat with liposuction, if you still want it. As for any special problems that people of African descent could have with liposuction, I am not aware of any. If you have healed keloid before however, chances are you will do it again. The same goes for pigmentation loss. If you experienced it before, you can again. The maximum time needed to heal depends on how much surgery you had. The average is about three weeks in compression garments and 2-3 months for all the swelling to dissipate. Fat will return if you gain weight again, it will just go to other places!
Good luck with your search. I hope this helps you.
Please let me know how you do.
