Hi there.
I am a 47 year old athletic male.
Just short of 18 months ago, I had an umbilical hernia repaired. The general surgeon left the dimple in the umbilicus but took away half of the inner "curly" navel. Since then, I have seen a plastic surgeon who has adjusted the distorted fat deposition under the skin which hung down and over the navel giving the appearance of what he called a "dog's ears look". The appearance became a little more normal but continued to look like only half of a navel with 2 lateral scars of about one inch. These scars are tending to lose their redness now.
I am still unhappy however that I have lost my original navel. Is there any way that the appearance can be improved with an implant or some other surgical protocol which returns the typical navel appearance to be somewhat more like it should be to the human eye or am I to remain with the 'bottom half navel' appearance?
Have you seen another plastic surgeon? They are the only ones who can help you with other ideas.
My best,
Susan Gail
