Eight months ago I had cosmetic nose surgery (rhinoplasty). The first couple months after surgery the reshaped cartiladge in my nose would swell -- I apllied pressure with my fingers to subdue the swelling. Six months after my surgery, I had a postoperative visit with the plastic surgeon who performed the surgery and we both agreed that the nose looked great. However, in the last few days I have noticed that my nose is incurring swelling again. The swelling is as significant as it was two months after surgery. The only thing I can think of that is causing this swelling is an enourmous amount of stress in my life. Is this sort of swelling normal eight monts after to surgery? Also, I have been told that that 90% of swelling will have subsided six months after surgey, and all of the swelling will have subsided about one year after surgery, but my postoperative experience has been for swelling to subside and then reoccur and then subside again; I thought that any noticeable swelling was a thing of the past until a couple of days ago when I noticed small but disturbing irregularities in my nose. Can you come up with any explanation of why this type of swelling pattern may be occuring?
It is not a normal pattern. Go back to the surgeon.
My best,
Susan Gail
